NUT BUTTER, BANANA & CHOCOLATE PROTEIN SMOOTHIE

chocolatebanananutbuttersmoothieI figured that was a better title than ‘ My current favorite thing to drink that I may or may not have a slight obsession with.’ Maybe it’s me, but I didn’t think that would be a very searchable title, right? And this might be my second favorite thing to drink. My current favorite drink will be featured next week, don’t worry.

This smoothie…oh, it’s good. Chocolately, nut buttery goodness.

arbonne-protein-smoothieThe Workout Bud and I are going strong on the 30 Day Healthy Living Challenge. One week down, three weeks to go. He’s been enjoying a protein shake every morning and one of lunch on occasion. I was worried he would be asking for sugar to add to it, but he’s loving them with just a handful of frozen berries.

His choice flavor is vanilla. And I’ve been on a vanilla kick too. So, in effort not have a full bag of chocolate leftover, I decided it was time to make a chocolate smoothie.

On my heavy teaching/workout days, I’m incorporating bananas, normally a non-recommended food on the detox. Chocolate and bananas go together well and almond butter and banana go well together…why not just throw everything in a blender and give it whirl.

I always like to have a meal with a carb, protein and fat. Adding chia seeds and nut butter provide the fat, banana provides the carb, and a scoop of greens give it a little extra power without sacrificing taste.

I’d planned on documenting our meals and sharing some each week, but you know how life goes. Obviously, smoothies and shakes are our favorite breakfast food. We’ve had spaghetti squash casserole (recipe coming soon), loaded eggs, salmon salad, loaded sweet potatoes + chicken and veggies, and DIY Chipotle Burrito bowls. I’ve been hitting over 10,000 steps each day, with The Workout Bud following close behind. Loving moving more, eating healthier, and being outside. My body loves spring and summer!
