And Happy Memorial Day!
Do you have the day off today? I do and I am so pumped. Hopefully I’m still sleeping as you read this! It’s my first day to sleep in, in over a week. And by sleep in, I mean 8:30/9:00am. Gotta love getting older. I’ve got lots to do today – plan the next 2-3 weeks for my client and catch up on 2 chapters for Precision – but I’m excited for an extra ‘weekend’ day.
It’s been a pretty great weekend so far. Friday, I was up bright and early, teaching bootcamp at 5:00am. I subbed for the gym where I used to teach and had a busy morning of classes. In the past couple months, I’ve went from wanting to wake up by 6am, to waking up around 7:30/8am, when I’m not teaching. Having to get up at 4:25am two days last week was no. bueno. I did a bit of workout planning and prep during the day, along with a walk along the water.
Then The Workout Bud and I went out to grab our marriage license on the way to all-you-can-eat sushi. But, the clerk’s office closed before we got there and the traffic was so bad on the way to sushi, we decided to skip it and head to the mall instead.
We tried on a few outfits at Old Navy, where I had no luck. Shorts fit the quads but not the waist. The pair I am wear as I write are a Boyfriend pair from Old Navy. Since Boyfriend cut are supposed to be slouchy, I kept them. But same problem – good in the quads, loose in the waist! We ended up eating Qdoba for dinner, after we remembered there was one at the mall. We would eat there every day, if we could. After Qdoba, we came back to our house and went to our favorite restaurant across the street for martini’s and sweet potato fries.
Regular martini’s, with the olive, are so not tasty. Probably one of those acquired taste drinks. I had one with amaretto and cranberry and it was pretty tasty. After drinks and fries, we ventured over to play Cards Against Humanity with his bros, which was super fun.
Saturday, I agreed to sub not one, but two BodyWorks classes. I fueled up with a couple eggs + banana before my first class, and two dates with cashew butter before the second one. My concoction of water + coconut water w/aloe juice (thanks Trader Joe’s) + Citrus Fizz kept me well hydrated through both hour long sessions. But by the end of the second class, I was ready to be done. I met The Boy for pancakes right after.
Our friends had their wedding on Saturday and we got all dressed up for it. Now, I SWEAR that I read the invitation and it said the wedding started at 5:30pm. Since I have been running late these days, I made sure that we left so that we would get there at least 10 minutes before it started. Well, when we talked in there was hardly anyone there. And they were both at the front taking pictures. I was just thinking they were maybe running late with pictures and it would start soon.
No. It started at 6:30pm. I told The Boy that I’m the keeper of the calendar and there are a TON of things on it at all times. So, mixing up the time for one event wasn’t too bad. It was an outdoor wedding at this beautiful state park, so we got to walk around and enjoy the weather.
The funny thing is that they tied a fisherman’s knot, instead of a unity candle – which we are doing. They had pulled pork, mac n’ cheese, baked beans, coleslaw and lemonade – all of which we are having, sans the coleslaw. And their colors were navy, a pale peach and a pale pink + ivory – and ours are gold, navy, and peach. And they are going to Charleston for their wedding – which is where we are going! Hah. We didn’t even really talk to each other about wedding planning either, so it’s not like we borrowed ideas from each other either.
She was so wonderful and gave me her bouquet since I’m getting hitched in 2 weeks. She was at a wedding two weeks prior and was given the bouquet by the bride as a ‘good luck’ gift, so she returned the favor. Aren’t they beautiful!
Sunday, I taught yet another BodyWorks class, this time a completely different workout, and boy, did my glutes and hammy’s feel it! I had such trouble with my music, but ended up getting it fixed and still lead a great class. After teaching, I booked it on over to my mom’s house to do some wedding planning. We got everything on our list at the Dollar Store and almost everything at Target. Plus, finalized our rehearsal and day of plans, checked out the slideshow and even tried to get the tablecloths ready. We are trying to figure out how to steam and transport the tablecloths, without them getting wrinkled or creased. I’ll take any ideas you got!
I was also given a gift of my grandma’s wedding bands! My grandma passed away when I was in fourth grade, but she was a huge part of my life growing up. My dad, aunt and uncle all decided to pass the rings along to me, to have a part of my grandma (and grandpa) with me on my special day. I’m so happy to have them and wear them for the wedding. After a full day on Sunday, The Boy and I ordered pizza and watched some MASH. He played his new zombie video game (with the sound up. Sounded like a real zombie attack in our apartment for hours.) and I did a bit of blogging, workout planning and Master’s program researching. And watched New Girl. It’s my latest obsession.

Yay for BlogFest 2015! I’m so excited!
I’d say is better to be early to a wedding, than late 😉
Agreed, Ange! 🙂
Um I love that blue dress. And dammnnn girl, you make the trying on room mirror look goooood. I’ve found that I can’t even shop at Gap anymore, period. Sizing is so messed up–the sizes have been completely tampered with, as well as the fit. Or we are just more awesome, and the clothes #justcanteven.
So special that you were given your grandmother’s wedding band–that is something that is so beautiful and meaningful. Unfortunately, many such pieces of jewelry were stolen from our house when I was young, and the “Clare” ring that was meant to be passed to me was stolen from a jewelry store a few years ago. There is nothing like family heirlooms! Have a great week!
Hah, thanks, Suzi! Sizing is so crazy, for sure. So sorry to hear your special jewelry was stolen. That’s the worst!
yay for blogfest! i want to go! can i hide in your suitcase? I’ll bring bites! haha. And thanks for link love.
Yes! Please hid in my suitcase! 🙂
I am going to BlogFest this year! It’s my first time! Hope to meet you there! <3
That’s awesome, Stephanie! Hope to see you too!
