It’s been a while since we just talked. Grab a cup of coffee and let’s settle in for a coffee date!

{Decaf} Coffee Date Topics of Conversation

Hi! Happy Friday!

How are you doing? I feel like it’s time for a coffee date. I’ve got life things and updates to share. Plus, I need to hear from you – tell me of your life!!!

First up, I’m drinking decaf coffee, almost exclusively. My love of coffee goes beyond a need for caffeine. Over the years, I’ve decided to ‘stop drinking coffee’ at least 3 – 4 times. It clearly never lasted. I love the warmth and comfort and the smell. I love the ritual of making a cup of French Press coffee, which I’ve been doing for the past few weeks. Add some Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides (affiliate link) + Onnit MCT oil + Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Spice and I’ve got a perfect cup. Ooo, Vital Proteins has creamer now! I went through an entire tub of Coconut flavor and Gingerbread is up next! Can’t wait!

Decaf has been my go-to because of some tummy trouble and cortisol issues. Over the last 2 months or so, my stomach has been off, which is part of the reason I started Whole30. Too much coffee + caffeine does not make my tum happy. Whole30 has me super low on energy. Not only low on energy, but tired in the morning and awake in the evening – the same symptoms I had when I was dealing with adrenal fatigue. It got me thinking that my cortisol levels might be off, which made me decide to start taking adrenal supplements, and I’m finally feeling more like myself. Too much caffeine is not good for wonky adrenals, either.

Whole30 has not be very fun. I’m planning on an entire post dedicated to my experience, but if you’ve seen my Insta stories, you know it’s not been the best 24 days (we are done on Thursday!). My gut issues haven’t normalized, with the exception of the first few days and this week, my energy levels have been so low, and my workouts have been slightly below average. Stay tuned for my full recap next Friday.

I finished a 5 day dose of antibiotics yesterday, which is part of the reason why I’ve stuck with Whole30. Ugg, when I found out I had to take them, I was so pissed. My history with antibiotics has not been a good one – think candidia overgrowth and stomach troubles. I made sure to increase my probiotic intake, take extra self-care time, (aka, relax more), cut back on fruits, and kept up with Whole30. I thinkkkkkk I made it through the antibiotics without issue. Woo!

Speaking of self-care, it’s Self-Care week in the Holiday Nourish Challenge and the gals are rocking it. They are sharing so many fun self-care activities! Self-care week came at the perfect time – antibiotics, cortisol issues, energy level issues, SI joint tweak (uggg, this is no fun!). I’ve been relaxing WAY more than normal. Lots of Gilmore Girls, lots of Oscar walks, sleeping in until 7:30/8am, enjoying slow mornings. I’ve taken a step back from social media and then blog (I had posts planned for last Friday and Monday!), but it’s been so worth it.

The Holiday Nourish Challenge is going SO well! It’s simple, but so fun. I’m definitely thinking of hosting another one in the spring!

Speaking of Holiday’s, I’ve been listening to Christmas music already. And plan to decorate by next week. I used to be all about waiting until after Thanksgiving to do ANYTHING Christmas, but I just love Christmas music and decor, so why the heck not just do a little listening and decorating early. I am saving certain album’s like Mariah Carey and Michael Buble until after Thanksgiving, but Hanson’s new album has been on repeat!!

While we are talking about listening, I recently finished 2 audiobooks (Simon Pegg’s book and Total Money Makeover) and am still working on another (The Big Life). I put 10 or so on hold at the library and have 1 credit to use on Audible, so I better decide on my next one. Any suggestions?! I found a new podcast that I’m digging – Mind Pump – a super informative and fun wellness/fitness podcast.

With fitness on the brain, I should tell you I’m studying for my Corrective Exercise Specialist Certification. It’s one I’d been interested in for a while and with my new gig (see below!), I knew it would come in handy. Plus, I have to recert for my personal trainer certification by April! It’s going well so far. I’m hoping to dive in deeper next week and hopefully take the exam by the end of December!

And the big news – which I already spilled on Facebook and Instagram – I’m the new Head Trainer Burn Boot Camp Fishers!!!!!  I heard about Burn Boot Camp a couple years ago through a blogger and wished we had one near my apartment. Fast forward to a few months ago when I saw a posting in a group that Burn WAS coming close! I was surprised and super excited about the possibility of being Head Trainer when one of the owners reached out to me a couple months ago. It was an interesting decision to make this shift with my business, but it was a decision I was willing to make. I accepted the position a few weeks ago and I start on the 27th of November!!!.

Burn’s philosophy so closely matches my with the philosophy of Burpees for Breakfast – MINDSET, community, whole food nutrition, burst training (HIIT) and strength training. And it’s pretty much a dream come true to be able to work with women every single day, inspiring and encouraging them to reach their goals.
And this weekend. My bestie is coming into town for a Girls/Craft Weekend. We have movies and crafts and brunch and coffee on the agenda!

SO, TELL ME:

Tell me all the things going on in your life!
What are your weekend plans?!

XOXO,
JEN
